COVIDおよび感染症災害に伴う子どもの発達困難・リスクに関する国内外の研究動向について検討し、後遺症と発達困難・リスクに係る発達支援の課題について明らかにしてきた。子どものLong COVIDに関わる症状は多岐にわたり、倦怠感・気分症状や疲労、睡眠障害、呼吸困難、嗅覚や味覚の障害など、その実態は不明確であるが、各種の調査研究からは子どもの抱える困難がうかがい知れるものであった。Munblitほか（2022b）は、Long COVID を有する子どもに対するパンデミックの影響を緊急に解明する必要性とともに、こうした感染による直接的影響については、ロックダウンや学校閉鎖、親の収入の減少、検疫、その他の病気によって引き起こされる影響と区別する必要があると指摘した。この点が重要であり、今回のCOVID-19において「パンデミック後遺症症候群(long pandemic syndrome)」と表現されている抑うつ・不安症・不登校等は、Long COVIDとは同一に扱えないものである。パンデミック以前の平時より各種の発達困難・リスクを抱える子どもが抑圧され、発達の権利保障が十分になされていない状況においてパンデミック・感染症災害が発生し、子どもの発達困難・リスクが急激に顕在化した。子どもの「いのち・生活・学習・発達」の権利保障の観点からは、Long COVIDと同様のコロナ禍の子どもの発達困難・リスクである。感染症災害のもとでより一層深刻化した子どもの発達困難・リスクがLong COVIDと「混在」している。こうした実態に対して、Long COVIDという言説においては医療的対応が強調されるが、各種の調査研究や子ども当事者の声・支援ニーズを踏まえても、子どものLong COVIDへの対応においては学校教育・教師の意義・役割があらためて確認することができ、そして医療と学校教育の連携・協働が不可欠となっている。2022年9月現在、日本では第7波の感染拡大が続いており、子どもの感染も増えるのと同時に後遺症の増加も懸念される。いわゆるLong COVIDだけでなく、感染症災害がもたらす影響としての「パンデミック後遺症」による子どもの発達困難・リスクの検討も含め、コロナ禍における発達支援のあり方を、子どものLong
