 note = {The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between the religion and the public sphere according to Habermas’s theory. In particular, I would like to consider this problem referring to the issue which Habermas criticized Cassirer about his theory of language. The first argument concerns the theory of “publicness” Habermas insists on. The second point that requires clarification is Harbermas’s critique of Cassirer’s understanding of the language. And then I should note that he does not affirm that language maintains the symbolic aspect but emphasizes its communicational one.
