"家族の私事化とは、公的世界に対する私的世界の相対的比重増加を人々が選択的に重視する傾向である。日本では、高度経済成長期以降に浸透していったが、葬儀という社会儀礼においてはなかなか浸透していかなかった。というのは、近代家族が一般化する以前の社会において、葬儀は地域共同体的規範に縛られており、その内容や運営方法は地域ごとの慣習的規則で決められていたので、まずはこの義務的で強制的な社会的交換から解放されることが喪家にとっては第一であった。すなわち、それは専門機関である葬儀社との経済的交換にシフトすることである。しかし、この葬儀社が提供する葬儀は、その準拠する集団を共同体から社縁関係へと変化させながらも、依然として社会的性格を保持していた。また、その社会性ゆえに、葬儀は形式的であり、画一的なものになっていった。このような経済的交換でありながら非常に社会的性格の強い葬儀に対して、やっと私事化の傾向が見られるようになったのは、ここ十数年の間のことである。家族ひとりひとりが故人の死を受け止めて、悲しみを消化していく場としての機能が葬儀に求められてきている。平成６年と16 年の新聞に掲載された葬儀情報（仙台市）を分析した結果、「掲載率の低下」から葬儀を社会的に公示する必要性の低下、すなわち葬儀の私事化がみられた。また、葬儀を行う場所として「斎場」が一般化したことにより、葬儀はその経済的交換の側面がいっそう加速し、喪家の欲求充足が求められる私的な儀礼へと変化を遂げようとしている。", "subitem_description_language": "ja",
